Wine Of The Month: Brewer Clifton Chardonnay 

Chardonnay from four unique vineyards is blended to create this expressive Californian white wine, with each vineyard contributing vastly different expressions that harmonize in the finished wine. 

The wine exhibits fruity aromas of lemon and kiwi, along with sweet basil. On the palate are flavours of jasmine, lime and a minerality thanks to the region’s marine-influenced climate and soils. 

This Chardonnay is perfectly enjoyed with pork and shellfish.

Spirit Of The Month: Doorly’s XO Barbados Rum

This blend of pot and column still rum comes from the award-winning Foursquare Distillery in Barbados. 

First aged a minimum of six years, Doorly’s XO then, unusually, undergoes a second maturation in solid oak Spanish Oloroso sherry casks which refines the rum’s flavours to achieve an unparalleled smoothness and complexity.

Perfect when enjoyed simply on the rocks, Doorly’s XO rum also excels in rum-based tropical cocktails!

The Young’s Fine Wine team will soon be headed back to one of our favourite wine regions – Tuscany! 

Nestled in central Italy, Tuscany is renowned for its picturesque landscape and exceptional wines. The terroir is diverse, from rolling hills and coastal breezes to fertile valleys, contributing to the unique characteristics of its wine. 

The region is home to some of the world’s most famous wine appellations, including Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino! Chianti, characterised by the robust Sangiovese grape, is the most iconic, from the light and fruity Chianti Classico to the more structured and age-worthy Riserva. Brunello di Montalcino, made exclusively from Sangiovese, is celebrated for its depth, complexity and aging potential. 

In the mid to late-20th Century innovative winemakers began blending international grape varieties, like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with Sangiovese, resulting in the Super Tuscans – wines that defy traditional Italian classification but garnered global acclaim.
